Please... let me see my son By Thomas Moore

This book is about the family law system from the perspective of a man who experienced it for all its shortcomings. In many ways it is the experience of thousands of men in the U.K., and elsewhere in the western world. However, whereas most parents suffer through the court process for one, two or three years, Thomas Moore suffered the system for around twelve years.

There are beautiful moments in this book which, I unashamedly admit, reduced me to tears at times. Written in the first person, Moore explains the lengths he went to in order to get to see his son, discusses the many shortcomings of the family law system and in doing so highlights the desperate need for change to the way the U.K. administers justice.

As Moore’s wife says: “What is it about this system that demeans the role of a father and so reveres that of the mother?”

This book is well-written, engaging and, once started, impossible to put down.

This is an excellent book, an account of a man who wants to be part of his son’s life and the long term battle between the services and courts that deny him that right. Strange how we come full circle from Victorian England when women were given no rights to see their children should they separate from their husbands, now the men seem to be denied this right! It is time to change the law and ensure that the law protects the children, and men and women are judged equally in their roles as a parent. In this case things could have been so different if it wasn’t for the determination to keep on with the fight. I wonder how many others have given up their fight and children are left without a father?

Please… Let Me See My Son – A father’s fight with parental alienation & the Family Law process
I started reading this book because my own son had a long battle with the system to gain access to his child, but I had no idea how bad it could get. This true story is astonishing and I can only marvel at the tenaciousness of the father in question. He writes with a style that compels you to read on, and I did – I couldn’t put it down! Anyone remotely interested in the welfare of children should read this – but particularly alienated parents, who could be helped enormously by hearing this story.

I thought my story was traumatic with being denied access for a time in the early days of separation, but this is in a different league; a different planet even! I also thought I knew that the family law system in this country was a big dodgy, hell did I understate that – it’s not just dodgy – it’s utterly biased and totally blind.I do also know that there are plenty of story’s of bad fathers, for whom the system was designed and who put mothers and children through hell. But at least the law is on their side, even if it takes some sorting out. this story, however shows that mothers can and do get away with treatment equally as bad or worse and no one is there to help (Karen Woodall must have seemed like an Angel in all this). Finally, it must have taken some real courage to put pen to paper and, Thomas, whoever you are, I respect and admire your commitment and dedication and the fact that you were brave enough to share this story. Best of luck to you and the entire family!
